Erik ten Hag is a Dutch ex-soccer player and coach who currently manages Ajax.
According to the ‘Daily Mail,’ the red devils would have already met with the Dutch coach this past Monday, although they are expected to meet soon with more candidates in the coming days.
Ajax would not put any impediment to the departure of its coach, given the excellent relationship that Ten Hag maintains with Van der Sar. However, financial compensation of about five million euros would be required.
For the part, Sky Sports News report Ten Hag has been interviewed for the job, and it’s claimed United chiefs were impressed by his vision and philosophy, with the process now said to be at ‘an advanced stage.’
However, that doesn’t mean that Ten Hag is viewed as the club’s first choice for the role, as the club is interested in looking at other options.
Since Solskjaer’s departure, Pochettino’s was rumored to be United’s first choice, although his name has been losing strength in recent weeks. Also, the English team is considering more names, such as Luis Enrique or Julen Lopetegui, coach of Sevilla, for example.
However, the selection process for the new coach is not something that will be resolved in the short term. The club leaders want to elect a coach who guarantees results and will take their time analyzing the candidates.
But on the other hand, Red Devils legend Gary Neville took to social media to report that he expects the club to announce a new manager in the coming weeks.
Yet, the red devils have no chance to compete for silverware this season, and they only have to fight to secure a qualifying position in European competitions, something that is not easy at all. Therefore it is unlikely that the club will appoint a new manager at this time.
The plan has always been for Ralf Rangnick to finish this season, and despite the results, he will likely do so and hand over the team to a new manager in January.
