19-year-old striker Erling Haaland has an incredible success story. His father Alf-Inge Haaland, is a former Manchester City defender. Erling Haaland was born in Leeds, England on July 21st, 2000 and he lived most of his life in Norway after his father retired there.
In 2006 he registered to Bryne FK in his hometown and began his journey in soccer, which became the center of his life.
Haaland debuted with Bryne FK in 2016 when he was just 15 years old. He never looked back. All his hard work and dedication paid off but he never slowed down. Haaland always looked for ways to get better and improve his already impressive skills.
In 2017, scouts from Molde FK saw his efforts and were impressive with his talent. They eventually decided to give Haaland his first big break, letting him train with the the first team so he could get used to the country’s top flight: the Norwegian Eliteserien.
Haaland was able to score in his first appearance with Molde FK in 2018 and he finished the season with a team-best 12 goals in 25 games.
He clearly belonged on a bigger stage. That performance allowed him to win the Eliteserien Breakthrough Player of the Year award and teams like Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen tried to sign him.
RB Salzburg eventually signed him and Haaland got more playing time in Austria. There, he polished his game and became a goalscoring machine. He ended up breaking numerous records with his hat-tricks against Wolfberger AC and TSV Hartberg.
But it was his performance with Norway’s U-20 team in the 2019 World Cup in Poland that made him a star. In that competition he led Norway to a historic 12-0 win in a group stage game against Honduras, scoring nine goals. Haaland easily broke the record for most goals in a FIFA U-20 World Cup match.
He then scored a hat-trick in his UEFA Champions League debut against Genk to become the youngest player to get one in a UEFA Champions League game. After that, a goal against Napoli made him the only teenager that scored in five consecutive games.
What at Erling Haaland has done at his young age can only be described as phenomenal. Seeing him score goals with ease is pretty unbelievable.
Right now he has 44 goals in 85 career games at the professional leagues in Norway, Austria, and Germany. Overall he has 65 goals in 110 league, cup and international games with Bryne FK, Molde FK, RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.
He arrived to Dortmund in January after a £17 million transfer. Manchester United was also after him but tjeu didn’t want to meet the demands of Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola and his father Alf-Inge Haaland.
The contract he signed is expected to keep him at Borussia Dortmund until 2024. Haaland already has 13 goals in just 14 Bundesliga games this season and he also scored two goals in two UEFA Champions League games.
