Excited Taylor pleased with debut goal in win over Hearts

    October 24, 2022

It was a special day for Celtic’s Greg Taylor to deliver his maiden strike in the SPFL for the Celtic. No time could have been worth this than to find the back of the net in a seven-goal thriller against Hearts.

James Forrest put the defending champions ahead in the 14th minute, but Lawrence Shankland pulled one back for the host on the stroke of halftime.

The second-half play resumed as the dangerous Shankland scored again via a penalty before Giakoumakis brought his side level, only for Shankland to get his third strike of the afternoon to complete his hat-trick.

Darien Maeda once again restored parity for the visitors before Taylor scored the winning goal after replacing Alexandro Bernabei with just fourteen minutes on the clock as he tucked home a brilliant Liel Abada’s cross to hand manager Ange Postecoglou side a hard-fought win in Tynecastle.

The Left back couldn’t wait to share his excitement after the game, as there were wild celebrations from the away stands with that winning goal.

In a post-match interview, the 24-year-old revealed how excited he was to give his side the win.

“ This is a moment I have always waited for, and I’m proud to score and help the club get this vital win. He said.

The weekend win over Hearts was a game that had a lot of controversies, with VAR being called into question on numerous occasions. However, the Hoops held on to a famous win as they edged out a stubborn Heart.

Celtic remain on top of the SPFL log with thirty points, four clear from rivals Rangers, who drew with Livingston courtesy of a late strike by Lundstram.

Next for Celtic is European duties On Tuesday as they welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to Celtic Park for matchday five of the UEFA Champions League round.
