The draws for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold between January and February 2024 in Cote d’Ivoire, were made on Thursday revealing the group stage route of all the 24 teams that have qualified for the competition.
The draw ceremony which was held in Abuja on Thursday evening had music icon Akon, former Nigerian international John Mikel Obi, Didier Drogba and Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi in attendance.
vory Coast, who are hosting the event for the second time in history, where put alongside three-time champions, one of the most successful sides in the competition and 2013 winners Nigeria, they were joined by Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
The draws meant that the competition could have and exciting fixture for the opening game of the competition. Meanwhile, in group B, record winners Egypt where paired with Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique while Group C has Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea and the Gambia in the competition’s perceived group of death.
Algeria, Burkina Faso Angola and the Mauritania were paired in Group D while Tunisia, Mali, South Africa and Namibia are in Group E 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final list Morocco were given a tricky group that had Dr Congo, 2012 winners Zambia and Tanzania
The 24 teams would be gunning for glory at the biggest event on African soil which will be taking place in Côte d’Ivoire from 13 January to 11 February 2024.
A competition which happened last in Cameroon in 2022 was lifted by Senegal who won it beating Egypt in the final in Yaounde.
