Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher feels that the Reds don’t have a chance to win the league title this season

Liverpool are currently in ninth position and they are clearly struggling especially in defence. While Jurgen Klopp’s men have enough talent in their ranks to make a strong comeback in the later half of the season. However former Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher feels that the Reds do not have it in them to win the Premier League this time especially looking at the competition.

Carragher feels that his former club is way too late even if they make a comeback if wont be enough for them to overtake the high flying Manchester City. The Citizens are in sensational form and are leaving no chance to give their opponents any space to challenge for the title this season.

He recently shared his thoughts as he drew explanations about Manchester United and also Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and feels that those days of comebacks are gone.

“The top teams who go on to notoriously win titles very rarely do what maybe Manchester United teams did in the past and almost wait for the second half of the season. I think those days have gone. I think if you go back to [Jose] Mourinho at Chelsea where it was like, “Right, we’re out the blocks.”

He shared how Manchester City are a sensational team and Liverpool due to their poor start it is very difficult for them to make a comeback this season. “[Manchester] City are the same and that’s why it’s a big worry for Liverpool where they find themselves right now. Because once you let top teams get away from you, it’s very difficult to claw them back,” Carragher revealed.

Currently Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table with seven wins out of eight as they have been fantastic with their start this time under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta. However the Gunners are closely followed by Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men have won six wins out of the eight matches and have drawn the other two games. The Citizens are therefore a point shy of the league leaders.

Apart from the Premier League, the Reds have struggled in the Champions League aswell. They lost their match against Napoli 4-1 and it was a rude awakening for Klopp and his men that they need to be more aware in defence. However they salvaged some pride with a 2-1 away win against Ajax in their second Champions League fixture and now they will be gearing up to face Scottish outfit, Celtic. The Reds are in desperate need to keep on winning as they have not been that tight defensively.
