The latest reports emanating from Germany has revealed that Frankfurt is looking to hand Kevin Trapp a contract extension. Not only will he get a new deal, but there is also the possibility of the shot-stopper getting a new role at the club.
With previous links to suitors across Europe, most especially Premier League side Manchester United, Trapp’s current deal is set to run till 2024, and the club hierarchies have made the decision for the skipper to continue at Frankfurt.
However, things aren’t clear yet as to which specific role will be handed to him when he calls it quit at the end of his career, but one thing for sure is he is seen as a true leader and a huge asset to the club as a whole.
Trapp remains one of the highest earners at the club, but as time goes by, there could be indications of him taking a pay cut, but his bonuses is something that might still rank him amongst those taking a fat pay cheque.
He kicked off his career back in 2012 following his arrival from Kaiserslautern, which followed with a short term at PSG for three years [2015-2018]. He did spend a larger part of his career with Frankfurt, and there might be a continuity of this relationship after he hangs his boots.
Frankfurt continue preparations for the mid-season break as they played out a 2-2 draw against Italian side Atalanta, with both goals coming from Lucas Alario.
Previous games against Urawa Red Diamonds saw them lose 4-2 before a 5-1 spanking of lower league side Sandhausen.
Eintracht Frankfurt will resume Bundesliga actions next week when they take on Schalke 04 as they hope to build on their impressive season with a 4th position on the log.
