Henry sets for a possible coaching role with PSG

    June 6, 2023

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry could be on the bench of Paris Sainte Germain this summer if Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann is named the Lighe 1 giant’s next manager.

According to Telegraph, the Paris club will hold talks with the German in the coming days, and he wants the 5h3 1998 world cup winner to be his number two at Parc Des Princes.

Henry was an assistant manager to former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, who has now taken over at Portugal.

Nagelsmann has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea after his sack by Bayern. Ahead of this summer, he is in talks with PSG over replacing Christophe Galtier as manager.

Meanwhile, what remains unclear is why Nagelsmann wants Henry to join him in Paris as part of his coaching staff – even though the pair have never worked together.

This could be because he is a French legend and would command respect in the team to avert the issue Galtier had in managing the big stars in the squad.

PSG seems ready to grant Henry’s presence would be welcomed by PSG star Kylian Mbappe, as the pair share a good relationship. This is therefore expected also to give Nagelsmann’s coaching team a French flavour.

If this works, Henry would be a positive addition to his staff and be valuable to him in making a fast start to life in France.

Meanwhile, Henry, whose last coaching job was for Belgium during the World Cup in Qatar, has also been linked with the United States national team head coach job.

The former striker had also tried club management with a stint at  Monaco and spent just over a year in charge of MLS club Montreal Impact. He had to stand down because of the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions.

What now remains unclear if Henry, who is also a TV pundit, wants to return to coaching as Nagelsmann’s assistant, as the offer relies on the German getting the PSG job.
