Ilkay Gundogan has signed a new four-year deal with Premier League champions Manchester City and now hopes to challenge for more titles in the years ahead. The German playmaker was due to fall out of contract next summer and there had been speculation he could be heading for an exit during the recent transfer window, with former club Borussia Dortmund mentioned as possible suitors.
However, the 29-year-old has agreed a new deal with the treble winners and believes City are set for further success under boss Pep Guardiola going into the new season. “I am very happy,” he told the club’s website. “I feel privileged to work with this great group of lads and with Pep.
“Playing for this club for three years is an amazing feeling and I am very grateful that I can continue, and hopefully we can achieve more nice moments. “We have great players and have already achieved a lot, but I think there is more to come. We have a lot of potential. I am happy that I can be a part of trying to get that out of us.”
City are 1.50 to win the Premier League outright, 4.75 to win the EFL Cup and 4.20 to land the FA Cup. The Champions League will be a big target for the Manchester outfit after they fell at the semi-final stage last season, with City 4.75 to claim Europe’s top prize.
