Real Madrid’s former defender Casemiro has signed a four-year contract for £59.5 million with Manchester United. Casemiro had a great run at Los Blancos for almost a decade but he is now ready for a new chapter in his career.
Casemiro is looking forward to his stint with the Red Devils as the club finds itself in all kinds of trouble. The Brazilian will also join his former Real Madrid teammate Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United and he will look to hit the ground running.
Meanwhile, Casemiro won five UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid. However, he wouldn’t even get a chance to compete in Europe’s elite football competition as Manchester United will play in the UEFA Europa League because of their poor show in the previous season. But Casemiro doesn’t feel he is demoting himself with his move to the Old Trafford club.
Casemiro said (via UtdReport): “Signing for (Manchester United) is a very important challenge for me — I feel like I am 18 years old, if it were up to me I would already play today against Liverpool.”
“Leaving the Champions League for the Europa League? I’m going to one of the biggest teams in the world, competing with the greatness of Real Madrid.”
Meanwhile, the defensive midfielder had a superb stint with Real Madrid as he made 336 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists.
On the other hand, Manchester United has got off to a terrible start in the new season. The Red Devils have lost both of their matches against Brighton and Hove Albion, and Brentford.
United lost by 2-1 against the Seagulls at home while they suffered a humiliating 4-0 against Brentford while playing away. Erik Ten Hag’s men sit at the bottom of the points table.
Manchester United will next take on Liverpool.
