A goal and an assist from 32-year-old midfielder Junior Stanislas set the Cherries on the way to a 4-1 win over Everton and into the next round of the EFL Cup.
The match played at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday saw both sides go face to face in the EFL Cup. It was also the first clash between both sides since the relegation of Bournemouth in 2020.
The hosts started early scoring through Jamaican forward Jamal Lowe in the seventh minute, thanks to a Stanislas assist.
Neither side could add to the tally I’m the first half, but the cherries started the second half stronger as Stanislas got a goal of his own three minutes after the restart.
Bournemouth has the worst defense in the Premier League, having conceded 32 times in 14 Premier League matches, and that came to the fore again when Everton equalized in the 67th minute through Demarai Gray.
However, Emiliano Marcondes in the 78th minute and Jaidon Anthony in the 82nd minute secured a 4-1 win for the home side.
Meanwhile, both sides will meet again in the Premier League on the weekend before the break for the world cup.
Elsewhere, Leicester City eased past Newport County thanks to a brace from Jamie Vardy. Brentford was knocked out on penalties by Gillingham after a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
The biggest matches in the EFL Cup will come up on Wednesday when Premier League sides Arsenal and Brighton will face each other at Emirates Stadium while Manchester City and Chelsea will battle at Etihad.
Liverpool will play against Derby County, and Nottingham Forest will also face Tottenham Hotspur, among others.
