The latest statistics show that most World Cup winners were and still are plying their trade in the Italian Serie A when they lifted the trophy.
Argentina were recently crowned world champions after winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after defeating France 4-2 on penalties in a pulsating final.
This final will forever be remembered as several records were set in the tournament’s history.
With Argentina becoming the latest world champions, no club has had more players collect a World Cup winners medal than Juventus.
The latest recipient of the honour is Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes, who were part of the team that recorded success at Qatar on Sunday.
The latest success shows that the number of World cup winner in Juventus’s history aren’t now 27, which no club in the history of football has more than.
Although Juventus had been on top of this ranking even before this World Cup started, they have now pulled further away from Bayern Munich, who are still on 24.
If France had won the title, the German champions could have overtaken the Bianconeri. Currently, Bayern had four players in the final.
This is good news for Di Maria, who had an inconsistent season with Bianconerri primarily due to injury setbacks.
He and Paredes have now joined 25 other players that had dorn the Juventus jersey to win the title.
The World Cup-winning players with Juventus are B Varglien, Caligaris, Borel, Combi, Ferrari, Monti, Orsi & Rosetta (1934); Foni & Rava (1938); Zoff, Cabrini, Gentile, Scirea, Tardelli & Rossi (1982); Deschamps & Zidane (1998); Buffon, Cannavaro, Del Piero, Camoranesi & Zambrotta (2006); Matuidi (2018).
Meanwhile, Inter now have 21, with Lautaro Martinez in the Argentina squad.
Roma added one as they now have 17, as Paulo Dybala was also in the Qatar 2022 edition.
