Juventus defeated Inter Milan with a slim win in Serie A

Juventus secured maximum points at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Sunday against a rival Inter Milan in a fiery Italian derby.

The difference in the game was a goal from Filip Kostic, which has significant question marks around an Adrien Rabiot handball in the build-up.

Although Juventus still have their 15 points deduction to fight for, it was a massive showdown at San Siro for the top four.

The Bianconeri will have their appeal against the 15-point penalty on April 19 as they also play Milan again next month for the Coppa Italia semi-final.

The game’sgame’s first chance fell to Inter as Nicolò Barella stung Wojciech Szczesny’s gloves with a long-range strike in the opening minutes. The Italian midfielder also forced another save from seven yards after an intelligent give-and-go with Romelu Lukaku.

Juventus would later take the lead with their first attack through a counter. Adrien Rabiot completed a give-and-go with Dusan Vlahovic and sent Filip Kostic down the left. Since he was unmarked, he looked up and drilled into the far bottom corner.

The goal came with controversy as there was a very long VAR check that ultimately found the potential Rabiot handball in the build-up was not noticeable. This was remarkably similar to his goal against Sampdoria last week.

Juve almost punished the most for the second time as Kostic was again totally unmarked. This time, he tried to roll across for Soule, who slipped to turn wide from 12 yards.

Kostic almost got a brace through a tap-in but was denied by Varella tracking back got a tap-in on Fagioli’s cross.

Inter continued the search for the leveller with Lukaku’s looping header going wide of the far post.

After the restart, Marcelo Brozovic ballooned over after Mattia De Sciglio charged down a Dimarco volley.

Kostic almost assisted a goal when he rolled across for Vlahovic, but Mattia Darmian intercepted it.

Inter continued their search for the equaliser as Manuel Locatelli made the block after Calhanoglu’sCalhanoglu’s poor first touch on a Barella counter-attack.

Onana was called into action with two attempts. The first to get a Locatelli snapshot under control, Dimarco flashed a ball across the face of the goal.

A row broke out after the end of the match resulting in Danilo D’Ambrosio and Leandro Paredes being sent off.
