The third bid of around £60M and £70M made by Chelsea for Wesley Fofana has been rejected by Leicester City. The Foxes have chosen to stick with the 21-year-old defender despite the third bid by the London club.
The Blues had add-on clauses in the bid, which the Foxes considered as unreasonable. Fofana joined Leicester City in 2020 from French side Saint Etienne and recently signed a five-year contract in March at the King Power Stadium.
It could take as much as £90M to tempt the Foxes to sell the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Leicester City has insisted that Fofana is not for sale even though he was left out of the squad for the weekend’s game against Southampton, where the Foxes lost 2-1 to the Saints.
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that Fofana was left out of the 2-1 loss at the weekend because he was not in the right state of mind to play.
It’s also not known if the defender will feature when Chelsea faces the Foxes at the weekend in the Premier League.
Leicester City is yet to record a victory this season in the Premier League after a 2-2 draw against Brighton on opening day, a 4-2 loss to Arsenal on week two, and a 2-1 loss to Southampton last weekend.
Meanwhile, the blues have recorded a win, a draw, and a loss this season after winning 1-0 against Everton on opening day, 2-2 draw, before a 3-0 loss to Leeds United last weekend.
The Blues were taken over by a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly who brought in Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, Marc Cucurella from Brighton, Raheem Sterling from Man City, Carney Chukwuemeka, Aston Villa, and Gabriel Slonina from Chicago in the MLS.
