Barcelona’s bid for the La Liga title was dealt a huge blow as they let go of a 2-goal first-half lead in their game against Levante on Tuesday evening to draw 3-3.
The Blaugrana need to win all their remaining three games of the season to stand any chance of winning the La Liga provided that league leaders Atletico Madrid and fellow title challengers Real Madrid, slip.
Barcelona missed the chance to go top at the weekend by beating Atletico but Ronald Koeman’s men could only get a 0-0 draw.
However, the goals came against Levante as Lionel Messi scored the opener inside the first 30 minutes before Gonzalez made it two in the 34th minute.
Two quickfire goals from Levante on the 57th and 59th minutes of the second half through Gonzalo Melero and Luis Morales pulled both sides level.
Dembele thought he had given Barca the win with four minutes past the hour mark but Levante snatched a point at the death through Sergio Leon.
A win would have put Barca at the top of the table but they only moved into second place, one point behind Real Madrid who is yet to play their own game, and one point behind Atletico Madrid who faces Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
In other matches on Wednesday, Sevilla will host Valencia and Atletico Madrid will play Real Sociedad at the Wanda Metropolitan.
Diego Simeone’s men will hope to pull clear of their title rivals by getting a win over a team that has three wins in its last five games.
Huesca will host Atletico Bilbao while Celta Vigo will welcome Getafe while Villarreal will travel to Real Valladolid on Wednesday.
Eibar will also play Real Betis and Granada will host Real Madrid all on Thursday.
