Levante got their second game without a defeat on Monday night after impressively holding Celta Vigo to a 1-1 draw at the Estadio de Balaidos.
Levante won only their second game of the La Liga season in their last game against Atletico Madrid with a shock 1-0 victory at the Wanda Metropolitano before traveling to Celta on Monday night.
Celta Vigo are also unbeaten in their last four matches played but needed to win in a bid to stay in touch with the European places. They did that aim a lot of good when Franco Cervi put the team ahead in the 67th minute of game after both sides had played a goalless first half.
Celta Vigo had won just two in their last four, with the other two being 2-2 draw versus Sevilla and a 0-0 draw against Cadiz in their last La Liga game. Levante made it a third draw in five matches after pulling a goal back through 31-year old Roger Marti with just eight minutes left on the clock.
With the draw Levante and now 9 points away from safety as they have 15 points at the bottom of the log from 25 games played. They are five points behind Cadiz and Alaves, who occupy 18 and 19th positions on the table respectively.
Celta Vigo are seated in ninth position with 32 points from 25 matches played so far so good. They are also seven points behind Villarreal in sixth position, while they are 10 points behind Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, who occupy the fifth and fourth place respectively with 42 points each.
While Levante faces Elche next in the La Liga, Celta Vigo will travel to the Wanda Metropolitano to battle Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Villarreal will welcome Juventus in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday to the La Ceramica.
