League leaders Liverpool and Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by West Bromwich Albion and Wolves in the English Premier League games played on Sunday at the Anfield and the Molineux Stadiums.
Liverpool hosted West Brom at the Anfield stadium as Sam Allardyce faced a team he has not lost against away-from-home in his last five away matches as a manager in the English Premier League.
Sadio Mane had given Liverpool an early lead with a goal from a Joel Matip’s assist in the 12th minute.
The game failed to see more goals as Sam Johnstone produced saves after saves to deny Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Nigerian Defender Semilogo Ajayi then scored the equalizer with 8 minutes left on time as West Bromwich Albion continue to fight their way up the Premier League table to avoid an immediate return to the championship.
Nevertheless, the 1-1 draw does not affect the standings of Liverpool at the top of the log as they continue to lead Everton in second with three points.
Meanwhile, West Brom is still stuck in the relegation waters with 8 points from 15 matches played.
They are five points away from safety and are behind Fulham, but they are six points above Sheffield United, who are rock bottom and without a win, this season, having garnered just two points all season long.
Over at the Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton Wanderers were able to hold Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur to another 1-1 draw.
Tanguy Ndombele scored in the first minute of the game for the visitors. However, Romain Saiss scored with 4 minutes left to secure the draw.
The result leaves Tottenham in the fifth position with 26 points while Wolves are in 11th with 21 points.
In other matches, Leeds United won 1-0 while West Ham and Brighton played out a 2-2 draw.
