Liverpool could lose another striker this summer transfer as Japanese forward Takumi Minamino has agreed to a deal to move to French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
Minamino joined the Reds from RB Salzburg in 2020 for a deal worth £7.25m in 2020. However, they have agreed to sell him to Monaco for £15.5m on Tuesday.
The Japanese had 55 appearances for Liverpool and had 14 goals in total, albeit he finished as the team’s top scorer in Cup games last season as Liverpool won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, scoring 7 goals in all.
His league appearances were limited to 1 start in 11 games, as Liverpool finished second behind Manchester City.
Liverpool has already seen the exit of Belgian striker Divock Origi and Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, who had his Bayern Munich medical on Tuesday, is expected to leave Anfield after a £35m deal was agreed with the Bundesliga champions.
Mane is expected to move to the Bavarian with the completion of his transfer imminent.
Similarly, Mohamed Salah has just a year left on his contract and has not signed a contract extension yet. Nevertheless, the Reds have brought in Darwin Nunez from the Portuguese side Benfica.
Similarly, Fabio Carvalho joined from Fulham for a fee of around £5m, while Calvin Ramsay joined from Scottish side Aberdeen.
Liverpool finished second behind Manchester City in the Premier League last season on the final day after beating Wolves 3-1, which was not enough after Manchester City’s 3-2 comeback win at Etihad against Aston villa.
The Cityzens have also been reinforcing, bringing in two strikers Erling Haaland from Dortmund and Julian Alvarez from River Plate Argentina.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will loan Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan despite signing him from the Italians last season for £97.5m.
The 29-year-old failed to impress on his return to Stamford Bridge, but the Italians trust him enough to splash £8m as a loan fee.
