Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes his team is at a disadvantage in the Premier League title race. The Spanish manager, ahead of his team’s FA Cup clash with Luton Town at Kenilworth road on Tuesday, spoke of his fear of the form of his rival teams.
The season is gradually winding down to the end, and it’s forming a three-horse race in the Premier League with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal neck and neck with the defending champions.
While Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 1-0 at Vitality Stadium courtesy of Phil Foden’s strike, they remained one point behind Liverpool and one ahead of Arsenal, who thrashed Newcastle 4-1.
Guardiola reckoned with their competitors’ form and recent results, who he deemed unstoppable.
“How are they [our opponents] playing, even Aston Villa but especially Arsenal and Liverpool? They are scoring three, four, five goals a day. So that means they are almost unstoppable,” Guardiola said.
Pep’s team would face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday in the FA Cup 5th round fixture in one of the three fixtures. The Cityzens have won their last two games with a 1-0 scoreline.
In other matches, Leicester City will travel to Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth, and Blackburn will host Newcastle United. On Wednesday, Chelsea will host Leeds United, Manchester United will travel to Nottingham Forest, and Wolves and Brighton will face off in another all-Premier League fixture.
The final fixture on Wednesday will see newly crowned Carabao Cup champions Liverpool. The Reds will face Southampton at Anfield Stadium just three days after beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said the trophy is easily the most special trophy he’s ever won. The win is potentially a starter for a quadruple for the Reds, who are still in the Europa League, Premier League race, and FA Cup.
