Premier League club Manchester United have confirmed that French midfielder Paul Pogba and English forward Jesse Lingard will leave the club at the end of their contracts this summer.
The club made the confirmation on separate social media posts on Wednesday to confirm Pogba’s long-rumored exit and Lingard’s final departure after spending last season temporarily at West Ham United.
Paul Pogba joined Manchester United Academy as a 16-year-old and debuted under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011 in a league cup win against Leeds United before moving to Juventus the next years, where he shone before returning to Old Trafford in 2016.
The Midfielder won the FIFA World Cup with the French national team in 2018, but before then, he was a big part of Jose Mourinho’s Europa League winning team in 2017.
In there total, during his second stint, Pogba made 154 appearances scoring 29 goals in total.
Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard’s 20 years of association with Manchester United will come to an end this summer after his exit was announced on Wednesday as well.
Lingard joined United in 2001 and has risen through the ranks since then, making his debut under Dutch manager Louis Van Gal in 2014.
Despite going on loan to several clubs, including West Ham United, Jesse Lingard still managed over 140 appearances for Manchester United.
Before now, Lingard has been outspoken about his treatment at Manchester United, especially after a successful loan spell at West Ham last season.
Nevertheless, United have now decided not to renew his contract, but the player looks forward to a new adventure next season.
In a statement posted online, Manchester United appreciated the 29-year-old’s time at the Old Trafford.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Jesse for all of the memories he’s helped create during his two decades here and wish him the best of luck in his future career.” The statement read.
