Manchester United held to a 2-2 draw by determined Spurs

    April 28, 2023

Manchester United were held to a 0-0 draw by Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening despite going into the halftime break with a 2-goal lead. The Red Devils, who have two games in hand, had the opportunity to strengthen their chances of making the UEFA Champions League by beating their nearest challengers Tottenham Hotspur who are six points behind them on the table.

Manchester United have played Tottenham Hotspur, who are in fifth position, but the Red Devils are two points behind. Newcastle United will look good enough for you as their position with 62 points thanks to their 4-1 win at Everton on Thursday.

Manchester United took the lead through Jadon Sancho in the seventh minute after a great individual effort. The visitors doubled the lead just before halftime in the 44th minute through Marcus Rashford.

However, Spurs took the second half by storm and scored eleven minutes after the breakthrough Pedro Porro, while Son Heung-Min equalized in the 79th minute of the game. The South Korean felt they deserved all three points and shared their disappointment after failing to do so.

“I think in the second half, we showed great character, but we’re not happy we didn’t get three points. The final decision-making wasn’t perfect. We didn’t want to let the fans down, we wanted to give everything, and that was the dressing room speech. We couldn’t let the game go. We were really angry about it; we didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down at halftime. I think the lads showed really good character.” Son said.

While Spurs are in fifth position with 54 points from 33 games, Manchester United is in fourth position with 60 points from 31 games and two points behind Newcastle United, who have played 32 matches.

Callum Wilson scored a brace s, Newcastle United got a 4-1 win away at Everton, while Southampton lost to Bournemouth 1-0.
