Croatian international Mario Mandzukic has once again been linked to a move to Manchester United.
The Red Devils were reported to have made a late move for the Juventus striker in the summer, but the move failed to materialise.
However, despite failing to get a deal for the ex-Bayern Munich striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjear allowed Belgian Striker Romelu Lukaku and Chilean striker Alexis Sánchez who both moved to Inter Milan, a deal which brought a lot of fans uproar.
Nevertheless, the Norwegian defended his actions in September opting to place his faith in French Striker Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and teenager Mason Greenwood, insisting he was right to let Lukaku and Sanchez go.
However, after facing goalscoring problems in the Premier League where they sit tenth after seven rounds of games, scoring just nine goals, there seems to be a need for a striker.
According to various sources, the 33-year old Mandzukic who hasn’t started a game for the Serie A champion so far in the new season under former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, is seriously keen on moving to United in the January transfer window.
Despite having a decent spell under Allegri last season where he notched 9 goals and 7 assists in 23 Serie A games last season, he has fallen in the pecking order of Sarri’s strikers behind Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala.
Should the Croatian move to Old Trafford, he will come in with a comprehensive C.V which includes a Champions League triumph in 2013 with Bayern, as well as a silver medal from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with the National Team.
It will also bring a big relief and hope for the United faithfuls who have had little to be excited about in a largely disappointing and unimpressive season.
Manchester United will come against AZ Alkmaar in their Europa League fixture.
The Red Devils are pegged at 2.43 to win the match, while Alkmaar are backed at to win 2.95.
