Chelsea’s Marc Guehi agreed to a five-year deal to join Crystal Palace via transfer.
“I’m very excited,” Guehi said. “It’s a great opportunity for me to come to such a big club in the Premier League. I’m really excited to get going.”
He spent last season at Swansea City making 40 appearances in the Championship.
The defender has shown quite a bit of potential and this deal with Chelsea involves future sell-on incentives.
This is manager Patrick Vieira’s third signing since taking over the role at the beginning of July.
Guehi played well under Steve Cooper last season before Swansea City lost to Brentford.
“[The club is taking] a really exciting direction with the new gaffer that’s come in,” Guess added. “A lot of good young players are here and obviously such a stable club with top players really enticed me and made me want to come.”
Guehi made his debut under Frank Lampard back in 2019 when Chelsea defeated Grimsby Town 7-1 in the Carabao Cup.
He originally joined Chelsea age 8, born in the Ivory Coast and growing up in London.
The five-year deal is worth £18 million.
“We are delighted to have signed Marc for Crystal Palace,” Palace Steve Paris said. “He’s an exciting talent and one we believe will be a valuable addition to the squad as we build towards the coming season.”
