Martinez ready for new deal as Inter prepare lucrative offer

    December 8, 2023

Reports have emanated from Italy that Milan is prepared to reward Lautaro Martinez with a lucrative contract.

According to reports, Inter is willing to break its wage structure to lock down star strikers to a lucrative long-term contract.

The 26-year-old Argentinian forward is enjoying his best season in Inter as he has now grown into the clear talisman of the Milan side. He has made a huge contribution to Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri squad and has continued to prove decisive this term, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists across 19 total games.

Although Martinez is already one of the highest earners in the Inter squad, earning a salary of around €6.5m net per season plus add-ons, the new deal could see him earn more as his current deal expires in June 2026.

Calciomercato.com reported that Inter are ready to start discussing the details of a new contract for the striker with his agent, Alejandro Camano, open to breaking their wage structure to offer him a high salary.

It was reported that the new salary could be as high as €10m net per year plus add-ons, reflective of his star status both at the club and on the European stage.

Since joining Inter in July 2018, the Argentinian striker has scored 117 goals and provided 39 assists across 257 matches.

In a related development, Martinez said he’s ready to sign a new contract, saying the team are ‘in full swing’ under coach Simone Inzaghi.

Inter made the Argentinian forward captain in the summer after the retirement of Samir Handanovic, having grown into a talismanic figure and star striker across his five years at the club.

In an interview with Sport Mediaset,  he said he can’t wait to sign a new deal.

Reflecting on the team’s impressive start to the season that has seen them occupy the top spot, he said it was expected but was surprised they would get along so quickly after the departure of 12 players in the summer.
