Series A leader Napoli made it 10th Serie A win on Tuesday after a 2-0 win against Empoli.
After a goalless affair in the first half, Napoli opened the scoring chat with a soft penalty before Piotr Zielinski rounded out the scoreline.
Before recording their 10th straight Serie A victory, the Partenopei had lost their last three league meetings with Empoli.
The first chance came in a game of few chances when Guglielmo Vicario smothered the Giovanni Di Lorenzo pull-back from the by-line.
However, the first real shot on target came on 38 minutes with Giacomo Raspadori when he controlled and struck on a Di Lorenzo cross.
Napoli almost recorded a goal on the stroke of half-time when Raspadori’s effort grazed the upright.
Victor Osimhen finally got a chance through a header that went wide. Also, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s shot from a Raspadori assist went over the bar.
The host got a chance to score when a scorcher from Bandinelli from the edge of the area went off-target.
After Tanguy Ndombele fired straight at Vicario, Osimhen towered above the crowd for a header over the bar from a Politano free kick.
Osimhen would later be involved in the first goal of the clash. The in-form Nigerian striker took advantage of Razvan Marin, who was caught napping. After placing himself in front to shield the ball, he forced the midfielder to bump into the back of him for a penalty.
Substitute Chucky Lozano insisted on taking the spot-kick. He placed the ball in despite Vicario getting a hand to it.
Empoli were reduced to ten men five minutes later after Sebastiano Luperto was given his second yellow card for a late tackle on Lozano.
Osimhen was stopped from adding to his Serie A goal tally when Alberto Grassi made an acrobatic goal-line clearance to keep out his header on a looping Mario Rui cross.
After firing one chance over, Piotr Zielinski didn’t miss the second from 12 yards on the volley from Lozano’s cross.
