Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has quashed the rumours of Sergio Aguero joining the Red Devils this summer.
Aguero who is a club legend at Manchester City is ending his ten-year-long association with the Citizens. Therefore several top clubs across Europe are interested in the Argentine forward which also include some English Premier League sides.
There were rumours that Manchester United were also in the mix but Solskjaer has completely crushed them, had he made the move he would have been the first player in 25 years to move from the Blue side of Manchester to the Red.
United’s Norweigian head coach spoke very openly about the matter at the pre-match press conference ahead of their match against Brighton. He said, “When I played for Man Utd, if a rival club tried to sign me, and I had gone, well where’s the loyalty?
“Loyalty is one of the values I really, really put highly. I wouldn’t expect any player who has played for a club for 10 years to want to go to their local rivals,” he added.
“It’s not for me. I know we’re professionals, but when you play for Man Utd you don’t go to Man City. We’ve had examples of that and I didn’t really agree with it.
“I won’t name names but you all know who I mean. Enough said.”
Some players like Carlos Tevez, Peter Schmeichel and Owen Hargreaves have donned the jerseys of both Manchester clubs but there has been some controversy or the other during these transfers.
Although United may not be on his list still there will be top European suitors for Sergio Aguero despite his recent injury concerns. One such team is FC Barcelona as they desperately need a forward and a link-up with compatriot Lionel Messi looks like a great pitch which even Aguero won’t be able to deny. He is still a top-class forward and though his best years are behind him he still can produce some exceptional match-winning performances.
Among Premier League clubs, Arsenal have been touted as his next destination but the Gunners boss Mikel Arteta laughed at the rumours during a press conference. So it will be interesting to see where the Argentine forward ends up this summer.
