Louis Thompson Norwich City Striker On loan at Shrewsbury scored a goal for the first time in four years.
The Midfielder was on the scoresheet during Shrewsbury’s victory over Macclesfield Town in the English Football League Trophy.
The Shrews beat Macclesfield by 3-1 and moved to the next round of the competition in the match that was played on Wednesday night.
Incidentally, before the game, the Norwich City player who will spend the whole of the season at the Shrews spoke of his wish to impress and become a major part of a potential victory in the game.
He then scored a long-range screamer to open the flood Gates of goals in a game that saw four goals in total. Hitting a shot from over 25yards out which clipped the underside of the bar before finding it’s way into the back of the net.
His goal is a positive for the player who has been restricted to limited playing time after a series of injury kept him out of action for a big part of the four months old season
However, Shrews ManagerSam Ricketts has been integrating the Midfielder back into the starting eleven in recent times, having been introduced as a substitute nine times in the League One.
The last time Thompson scored a goal was coincidentally while at Swindon who were in the League One in a 4-0 win over Chesterfield on the 28 of November 2015
He started his career at Swindon before he secured a move to the Canaries in a deal worth £1 Million before he returned to Swindon on loan.
Louis Thompson has featured only in 14 games for the Canaries in close to 5 years in a period where he sustained serious injuries, which include Achilles Tendon problem, dislocated shoulder as well as a knee problem.
He still has three years left on his contract with Norwich City which runs till the year 2022.
