French forward, Ousmane Dembele is set to remain at Barcelona till next season after the Catalan club failed to get suitors to meet his asking price.
Barcelona had placed 60 million euros on the player they acquired from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for around 144 million pounds.
The 2018 world cup winner has only managed 51 matches since then after being severely dealt with injuries.
The player’s representative and the club had met to decide on his future with an agreement reached on the player’s departure in the summer.
However, with the current suspension of football and sporting activities across Europe, clubs are getting hard hit by the economic implications and navigation transfer dealings with caution.
Fitness issues are one of the major issues that clubs are considering with Barcelona also putting the player’s future on his form and Fitness.
Unfortunately, Dembele got injured in February 2020 with an expected return date of not less than six months.
In recent years, the 22-year-old has endured seven muscle injuries.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has been linked with moves for Neymar as well as Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
Also, defender Nelson Semedo is getting frustrated with contract extension talks that has slowed down in recent weeks.
The defender was signed from Portuguese side Benfica for 30 million euros, and he has just two years left on his Barcelona contract.
Joao Cancelo has been mentioned as a replacement should a deal not be agreed anytime soon with a possible swap deal mooted in the media.
Barcelona has been involved in controversies lately as six board members told the club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu about their unhappiness in the handling of the club.
They also demanded for fresh elections into the presidential position at the club.
