Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, travelled to Turkey ahead of his move to Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbache.
The German world cup winner travelled on Sunday ahead of his medical and bade goodbye to his Arsenal teammates at the training ground before his departure.
Ozil has a half year left on his Arsenal contract, but he hasn’t played for Mikel Arteta’s side since March 2020.
His last game was Arsenal’s 1-0 win over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium in March, and he has not played since the restart of football after the Covid-19 lockdown.
He has been left out of both the Europa League group stage and Premier League squads of Arsenal this season.
Ozil was quoted in an interview on Turkish TV on Sunday said he was “very happy, very excited” to be joining Fenerbahce and would “wear the shirt with pride”.
Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in a £42.4m in 2013.
Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester United played a 0-0 at the Anfield Stadium on Sunday.
The much-anticipated game between first and second on the Premier log started and failed to meet up to the pre-match hype.
While Liverpool had most of the possession, Manchester United had the better chances including a big save from Allison Becker to deny Paul Pogba from close range in the second half.
Bruno Fernandes was also close to giving Manchester United the win, but his free kick in the first half was not close enough to goal.
The result was more favourable to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men than to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Manchester United stayed on top of the league table with 2 points more than Manchester City and Leicester in second place and third respectively while Liverpool is fourth with 3 points away from the top of the log.
Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening to effectively join the title race.
