    Pele’s health worsens

    December 7, 2022

Pelé, also known as The King, is one of the greatest soccer players in the world. He is remembered for his incredible skill and success on the pitch, which has earned him a legendary status amongst fans around the globe. As one of the most decorated players in history, he won three FIFA World Cups with Brazil and scored over 1000 goals during his career. Pelé’s extraordinary talent has inspired many aspiring footballers who seek to replicate his feats on the pitch.

His career began at Santos FC, where he spent 18 years playing for them before joining New York Cosmos in 1975. His time at Santos was marked by unprecedented success, where he achieved numerous individual and team accolades, including eight Brazilian titles and two Copa Libertadores titles.

But the world could lose Pelé since his health is not good and he is not responding to medical treatments.

Pelé’s state of health has worsened since he was admitted to the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paulo last Tuesday. According to the Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, the king no longer responds to the chemotherapy treatment he has been undergoing since September 2021 due to an operation for colon cancer. In addition, he was diagnosed with metastases in the intestine, lung and liver at the beginning of the year.

Pelé, 82, is currently in palliative care, for which chemotherapy has been suspended, and he is now receiving measures to try to alleviate the pain and shortness of breath. The medical staff does not want to subject the former soccer player to invasive therapies. However, there is a new medical report, according to TNT Brazil, which indicates that Pelé has responded to respiratory treatment.

The Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital issued a note reporting Pelé’s health. “The response has been adequate, and the patient (Pelé), who remains in the common room, is stable, with a general improvement in his health,” the hospital note said. This was the medical center’s last official version; new information is expected in the next few hours.
