Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted that there were no favourites in the Champions League tie.
His statement is concerning speaking ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid,
While noting that there isn’t more pressure on one side or the other, the coach noted that his men are prepared for the 13 times champions.
Speaking on a combination of factors, he said the club shows its strength.
While noting that there are no favourites, the former Tottenham manager said it’s a Round of 16 tie which could be a final given the players and the quality.
Speaking on the success of the 3-1 win against the Les Merengues with Tottenham Hotspurs in 2017, he admitted that the London club was a very different team to the one at PSG, with a midfield that has been together for five years.
Since they’ve known each other both on and off the pitch, is the most important thing. That’s when it becomes easier to express individual talents. I’ll say it again, Real Madrid.
He pointed out that Madrid of that year weren’t good in the Copa del Rey, nor in La Liga, but won the Champions League they won.
He said the mental strength was decisive and all teams always have to respect Real Madrid.
The skipper, ahead of the big clash dismissed the idea that the team’s season was only starting now. Brazilian said PSG has been working since the start of the season. According to him, getting it done is what matters.
While noting that the pressure around football gives players motivation and energy, he admitted that many will be looking forward to the top clash.
Preparing for the worst, he said being out in the Coupe de France won’t deter them.
PSG is currently topping the Ligue 1 table and qualified for the Champions League knockouts.
The Brazilian said the supporters are with them as they make the difference. He also said they give the team strength that they have to push them to do their best.
