Premier League | Really proud of Marcus Rashford: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

    December 28, 2020

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went on to hail Marcus Rashford’s performance as the striker registered a goal in their 2-2 draw against Leicester City, at the King Power Stadium, on Saturday.

“Both as a player and person he has been absolutely brilliant. We are very proud of him as a person and a player. He was always a threat. We create chances for him and he creates them for others,” Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying.

Rashford could go on to have the best season of his career as he has already netted 13 goals in 23 games across all competitions in 2020-21 as compared to 22 goals in 44 outings last season.

Three of these goals have come in the last three Premier League matches — two in their 3-2 win over Sheffield United and another against Leicester on Saturday.

It seemed like Rashford had hurt his shoulder towards the end of the game but Solskjaer has confirmed that it is nothing serious.

“He felt his shoulder a bit after one of the Leicester players tugged his arm but hopefully it won’t be too bad as he completed a full sprint soon after that,” said Solskjaer.

Rashford’s success this season hasn’t remained confined only within the boundaries of the football field. The 23-year-old has gone on to receive plaudits for his campaign to eradicate good poverty as well.

As a human being, we have seen the true Marcus Rashford ever since he was a kid and his youth days,” the United boss had told reporters ahead of their clash against Leeds United.

“You always get influenced and your character is shaped through your family, the environment you work in and where you grow up. And you see Marcus really cares about people who have had a difficult time or aren’t as privileged as many are, or as he is now.

“He knows what they are going through. What he has done is exceptional, I have to say. Sometimes you think will this affect his football because he is such a young lad. I think he has taken on this responsibility in a fantastic way and balanced it really well with the football.
