Paris Saint Germain are winning their Ligue 1 matches for fun but what is not fun is their dressing room condition and power division between the players like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. Mbappe once again grabbed the headlines as PSG won 5-2 against Montpellier as the Frenchman barged into Messi with his shoulder which was criticized by the entire football community.
While some people believe that he is becoming egoistic and feels that he is losing power in the dressing room, with Messi and Neymar taking it over from the French international. These reports have seen many experts and former players speak about the 22-year-old as they compared how Messi was already a superstar at that age and had won four Ballon d’Ors.
This was their second big win in Ligue 1 after they defeated Clermont Foot in the opening fixture. There also Messi grabbed the headlines for all the good reasons as he scored that world class bicycle kick goal as PSg there also scored five goals to start their campaign. So in total 10 goals from two games to start the new Ligue 1 season.
While wins and goals are not the immediate concern but poor behavior is surely a massive disadvantage for any team as it creates a negative vibe in the dressing room. That is something Mbappe is trying to do at the moment. He was very angry since missing out on the second penalty for PSG but the highlight of the match was when Mbappe decided to walk away on a counter attack just because the ball was not passed towards him.
PSG Manager Christophe Galtier immediately pointed out how Mbappe has recently returned from a major injury and still has concerns as the Parisiens picked up yet another dominating win. He said, “Kylian played his last game three weeks ago so I knew it was going to be tough on a physical level for him. He’s a competitor. He wants to be good and he wants to be good quickly, but a top footballer is not on and off like that; it takes a little time to regain 100 per cent of his athletic abilities.”
Galtier reasons Mbappe’s frustration and disappointment with his inability to score goals. He shares how not being at his best makes Mbappe frustrated and that’s what comes out in the open as he is not totally fit. “When he’s at 100 per cent, he’ll make the difference even more. These are players who like to score, who want to score, who attack. It’s a bit normal for him to be disappointed at being a little short physically compared to his teammates.”
It will be very interesting to see if Mbappe continues this with Lionel Messi creating a dressing room divide at the club or he adjusts to the style of play and reaches a middle ground with Messi and creates an understanding in attack with the Argentine superstar. Whichever way it goes there’s not shortage of drama and entertainment in this PSG roster.
