Lionel Messi has bid adieu to his childhood club FC Barcelona. The club where Messi signed in as a young 18-year old. This is perhaps one of the most emotional farewells in the sports of Football as Messi and Barcelona finally parted ways after a period of 17 years in which both parties achieved many glories.
Though Messi has not yet disclosed his next possible club during his emotional farewell, but as per ESPN sources, a deal with Paris Saint-Germain has already been agreed and will soon be made public.
The Argentina forward, who only recently won Copa America for his national team, has said that he had received several calls from various clubs ever since the news of his departing from Camp Nou started to surface. As per reports from ESPN, he has already agreed to sign for the Ligue 1 side.
As per sources, Messi is expected to travel to the French capital in order to undergo a medical test in the coming days and sign a two-year deal with the option for a third season. He could be presented at an event at the Eiffel Tower in the coming days.
In his Farewell speech, Messi pointed to the possibility of shifting to Paris, “PSG is one possibility. There’s nothing closed at the moment, but we’re talking about a lot of things. After Barca’s statement, a lot of clubs showed an interest. There’s nothing final but, of course, there are talks”, says Lionel Messi.
Elaborating further, Messi further quotes that he would like to go to the club that could compete with FC Barcelona. “There is no doubt that I will go to a team that will compete with Barca. I didn’t want to leave, but I have to. And I want to keep winning. That’s my mentality. I want to win”, further quotes Argentinian Captain.
This parting of Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona is one of the most shocking news of the Football world. Messi, who joined the youth wing of Barcelona, also known as FC Barcelona C, in 2003, stayed at Camp Nou since then. The Argentinian has been the center of Barcelona for a long time and is certainly among the greatest ever, such as Johan Cruyff, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol, Xavi, Ronaldinho, and many more who have played for the club.
