With the French Champion set to complete the signing of the Spanish Giant Goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, Alphonso Areola is set to move the other way. Despite Buffon leaving the French capital this summer to reunite with his former club Juventus, the 26-years-old Frenchman had decided to part way with his Childhood club.
Areola who did not feature for PSG during their 2-0 victory over Metz in Ligue 1 on Friday night has traveled to the Spanish Capital to where he is believed to have passed his medical and set to put pen to paper. The Frenchman is paving who was the first-choice goalkeeper under Thomas Tuchel is to pave the way for Keylor Navas who had to depart Santiago Bernabeu cause of playing time under Zinedine Zidane.
The Costarica International has been Madrid second choice goalkeeper since Thibaut Courtois was signed from Chelsea and he’s set to sign for PSG after his teams match against Villarreal. The 26-years-old who is set to join up with the France squad for the international break will have to battle it out with Thibaut Courtois for the number one spot under coach Zidane as the team look to challenge Barcelona for the La Liga title this season
With the transfer window set to close tomorrow, Paris Saint-Germain will also be hoping to sort out the future of Brazilian Star Player, Neymar who has been linked with a move back to former club Barcelona as well as Real Madrid who are hoping to replace Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club last season. Areola, who is an academy graduate of PSG, spent the early parts of his career on loan, enjoying spells with Lens, Bastia, and Villarreal.
The highlight of his career at the French side was when he broke the club record for the longest period of play without conceding a goal, remaining unbeaten for a period of 620 minutes. He has made a total of 74 Ligue 1 appearance for the French side winning 3 Ligue 1 titles and was part of the France team that won the world cup last year.
