PSG got spanked in the match day two of their Group F UEFA Champions League Encounter against Premier League side Newcastle United.
The Toons, returning to the competition after two decades of absence, trashed the Ligue 1 Champions in a highly dominated match.
The hosts made their dominance count as they roared to victory over the French champions.
The win put them on top of their group as AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund played a goalless draw in Germany.
Eddie Howe will surely cherish this moment as Newcastle United welcomed Champions League football back to St. James’ Park in style.
Apart from Paris St-Germain being overpowered in a highly-charged atmosphere on Tyneside, superstar Kylian Mbappe – found the atmosphere and intensity on and off the pitch just too much against a side that wanted it most as they secured a richly-deserved win in Newcastle’s first home game in Europe’s elite competition since a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in March 2003.
The Toon Army got the fans kicking at St. James’ Park when Miguel Almiron sent them wild by giving them a 17th-minute lead. PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma could only palm out Alexander Isak’s shot, as Marquinhos was punished for carelessly conceding possession.
They made it two through Dan Burn’s towering header six minutes before half-time. Italy keeper Donnarumma couldn’t claw out the ball that had already crossed the line. However, Newcastle still had to wait for a video assistant referee to check for offside before the celebrations could begin.
Donnarumma became a talking point again as he was punished, and Newcastle went three up five minutes after the break. The Italian goalkeeper’s poor attempt at a block allowed Sean Longstaff’s powerful shot from an angle to creep in.
PSG failed to match the hosts’ intensity, so they pulled one back after 56 minutes through Lucas Hernandez’s header.
Newcastle completed their joyful night when Swiss center-back Fabian Schar added the icing on the cake in stoppage time. He curled a stunning shot past Donnarumma from the edge of the box into the top corner to make it 4-1.
