Ahead of their Champions League semi-finals clash against RB Leipzig in Lisbon tonight, Paris Saint-Germain will have to play without their first choice goalie, Keylor Navas.
This was revealed in an update the French champions released on their injured players ahead of the crunch Champions League semi-final.
PSG will have the opportunity to play the winner of the other semi-finals involving Bayern Munich and fellow french side, Lyon, in the final if they can scale through the Bundesliga side, who is reaching their first semi-finals of the tournament.
Lyon had recorded a 3-1 shocking win over Manchester City in Lisbon last week to book a date with the Bundesliga champions.
Argentine winger, Angel Di Maria, returns to the squad after serving his suspension against Atalanta, but the Parisiens would be without the service of Navas, who had won the Champions League with Real Madrid.
According to the injury update from the club, the Costa Rican has continued his rehabilitation after sustaining a right-thigh injury. The Paris club had envisaged that he would be able to return to full fitness on Thursday but failed a fitness test and therefore ruled out of today’s semi-final.
This has now given Sergio Rico, who came on for him against Atalanta, the chance to be in between the stick again.
Other players that could be missing in action for the French Ligue 1 Uber Eats champions include Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye.
The Italian had missed the clash against the Serie A side due to a calf knock but continues his progress. Gueye had been receiving treatment after suffering a muscle strain during Saturday training. This leaves the duo uncertain for tonight’s clash.
However, captain Thiago Silva, who resumed collective training on Sunday, is a big boost for the team hoping to reach its first Champions League final.
