The manager of Fulham Football Club Scott Parker was left frustrated at the late decision that went against his team in the clash against Bristol City.
The visitors left Craven Cottage with maximum points, all thanks to referee decision but the coach was proud of the application shown by his players.
While the host was behind 2-1 down, Neeskens Kebano was felled in the penalty box, but Fulham was not awarded the spot-kick.
While calling for the availability of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the English second tier, Parker described the decision as a big mistake that is likely to happen due to human error.
He said in a situation where there was VAR, the referee, Jez Thompson, would have wanted to go to VAR. This, he said, could result in an instant reverse on his earlier decision.
While noting that it’s one of the things the team had to take, he said his lads remained undeterred, and they will dust themselves off and go again as they aim to secure a return to the top flight.
While expressing a feeling that the game wasn’t in control at times, Parker pointed out that the man at the center had a tough job in his hands and had to make decisions on split calls.
Expressing his disappointment for not getting a penalty later in the game and some other decisions going against the team, he said he would have been happy if VAR is introduced in the championship immediately.
He added that he told the referee that they are under the spotlight of the media who reported a lot of football matches every week, having played for 20 years and now as a coach, and instances developing.
He further stated that as that action develops, the game was growing,
Explaining the big decision, the manager said Neeskens got in front of the Bristol player who clipped him, but Fulham was not given the penalty.
With Bristol City getting the winning, Parker said he is ultimately proud of his lads who were in the ascendency despite being two goals down with 10 minutes left on the clock and everyone didn’t give up, and they kept going.
