Andrea Belotti’s brace was not enough for Torino as they slumped to another 2-3 defeat on their ground against Cagliari. The disastrous season of the Turin-based outfit continues.
Torino got in front four minutes after Sasa Lukic was brought down by Alessio Cragno. The skipper, Belotti, made no mistake by converting the spot-kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Cagliari would have equalized almost immediately from their next attack. Salvatore Sirigu stopped Marko Marin’s effort into the path of Giovanni Simeone.
The visitor eventually got on level terms in the 12th minutes from a corner. Joao Pedro slides in from four yards from a pull back from the by-line, which took a couple of ricochets before landing on his feet.
It took Cagliari another 7 minutes to get into the lead, with static defending of Torino to blame. Lyanco failed to intercept Nahitan Nandez’s pass, which eventually came to the path of Simeone, who took his time to control before finding the top corner from 12 yards.
Belotti scored his second to level up things for the hosts five minutes after the restart. The skipper pounced on Vojvoda’s cross, which was glanced at by Bonazzoli.
Simeone will eventually get his brace in the 73rd minute, which proved to be the match-winner for the visitor. Sirigu gave Simone a gif after he horribly fumbled a low Nandez cross, allowing him a simple tap in.
In another game, Spezia was hoping to continue from where they stopped against Udinese by securing a win against visitors, Fiorentina.
But it was Viola that drew the first blood within 100 seconds at the Orogel Stadium in Cesena. Fiorentina, on the other hand, came into the game on the back of two consecutive losses. The visitors got in front through German Pezzella, who was totally unmarked from a corner. He made no mistake by nodding the ball in from eight yards to mark his 100th Serie A match.
Viola doubled their lead two minutes later when Pol Lirola rolled across the face of goal for Cristiano Biraghi to finish from a tricky angle.
The host reduced the deficit in the 39th minute through Daniel Verde, who profited from Martin Caceres’ error. The defender failed to cut out a through ball, giving Verde the confidence to beat Bartlomiej Dragowski from a very tight angle.
The visitors failed to clear their line from a corner in the 74th minute, and they got punished for it. Farias toe-poked the ball into the far bottom corner from 10 yards to rescue a point for the promoted side.
In another game, Sassuolo pulled up an extraordinary comeback against Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Bologna, who scored first with a wonderful sweeping team move that began from the defense. Rodrigo Palacio finalized the sweet moved by rolling across for Roberto Soriano to sweep home.
Sassuolo leveled matters as he was allowed too much time and space on the edge of the area. The forward picked his spot and curled in a left-footed shot into the far bottom corner.
Bologna got back in front with another smart move. This time around, it was completed by Soriano with a give-and-go with Palacio, which was later released to Mattias Svanberg, who swept the shot into the far bottom corner.
Orsolini scored Bologna’s third after robbing Manuel Locatelli in defense and fired in with the aid of a deflection.
Duricic reduced the deficit from a promising position. Sassuolo then got into the lead with Duricic providing an assist to Caputo, who drilled in from the tightest of angles.
The Neroverdi then completed the turnaround with an own goal from Tomiyasu.
AS Roma thrashed Benevento 5-2, and Udinese secured a 3-2 home win against Parma.
