The FIFA Best Awards nominees were revealed on Thursday, with Spanish managers dominating.
The Best FIFA coach nominees categories. FIFA’s best awards are awarded to players, goalkeepers, and coaches in the men’s and women’s categories by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
The five-man shortlist includes Manchester City’s Spanish manager Pep Guardiola and Barcelona’s coach Xavi Hernandez; others are Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglu, who had a treble-winning season at Celtic.
There was also space for former Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti and Simone Inzaghi, who coaches Inter Milan. Spalletti left Napoli at the end of last season, but not without winning the Scudetto.
Xavi helped Barcelona to the La Liga, but for Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglu, his treble-winning feat at Celtic last season helped him get the recognition.
However, the big favorite is Pep Guardiola, who won the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup treble with Manchester City last season.
FIFA also revealed the Best FIFA Players nominees were also announced, with six Manchester City players named, including Haaland, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Julian Alvarez, and former player Ilkay Gundogan.
Nigerian Victor Osimhen and his Napoli teammate Kvicha Kvaratsheklia, alongside Messi, Mbappe, Marcelo Brozovic, and Declan Rice, made the cut.
