Norwich City star striker Teemu Pukki reflected on the highlights of his first season in the Premier League and revealed a “special goal” that gave him the most satisfaction.
Pukki had a superb debut season in 2018-19, scoring 29 goals in 43 English Football League Championship games and 36 goals in 56 games when including his international football games with Finland.
The 30-year-old continued that high level of play this season, winning the Premier League Player of the Month for August after scoring five goals in four games. Pukki currently has 11 goals in 28 games. The Premier League was suspended on March 13th due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pukki’s 40 goals for Norwich City since joining the team in 2018 has already moved him to 33rd in their list of all-time top scorers.
A spectacular volley during a 3-1 home win against the Newcastle United on August 17, his first career Premier League goal, was the one he chose as his best for Norwich City so far.
“There’s been a couple of last-minute winners from last season, like Millwall and Bolton, and then the Newcastle goal I think has been the most beautiful goal for my Norwich career. It’s hard to say just one goal.
My actual feeling after the first goal against Newcastle was probably ‘did that go in? How did I score that goal?’.
That was a pretty special goal for me, not the sort of goal I’m used to scoring.”
