Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has lashed out at the club for their mundane performance against Newcastle United at St. James Park on Monday. The Red Devils were not up to the mark, especially in the first half of the game as there was no pressing and urgency from the visitors.
The tourists conceded in the seventh minute of the game as Allan Saint-Maximin scored for Newcastle United. The home side dominated the possession and they were also able to create a plethora of chances in the first 45 minutes.
However, Manchester United was able to equalize after 64 minutes as Urugyuan striker Edison Cavani found the back of the net.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via Eurosport), Gary Neville said: “There’s no pressing; there’s no urgency, and the basics of the game are not there. Every single battle they’ve lost. It has been really poor performance, and not one single thing has gone right as a team.”
“They’ve not done one single thing right, and there’s not one single player can go in at half-time and say that they’ve done their jobs or done themselves justice.”
On the other hand, Gary Neville slammed Manchester United players for whinging. Neville added Cavani helps in getting the best out of other players while the other players are whinging as the team is not able to play to the best of their ability.
“They are a bunch of whinge bags. I am not going to go into names. But honestly, they are whingeing at each other, and their arms are up in the air , and they are complaining about everything.”
“Honestly that is absolutely shocking out there, and, to be honest with you, they got the last manager the sacked, and they’ll get a lot of managers the sack if they carry on like that because that’s a really, really poor performance. It’s only 45 minutes, but they’ve got to sort themselves out because that is massively below what’s expected.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United is currently placed in seventh place in the points table after eight wins from 17 matches. The Red Devils will next play against Burnley F.C on 30th December.
