Title contenders usher in Premier League return

    November 24, 2023

The Premier League returns after the November international break with Match Day 13 fixtures with an exciting early kick-off on Saturday with defending champions and table toppers Manchester City welcoming second-placed Liverpool to Etihad Stadium.

Saturday will see seven fixtures happen, but the clash of the Titans will usher in six other fixtures, with the day ending with Brentford welcoming Arsenal.

However, all eyes will be on the two teams whose last two clashes provided five goals each, with Liverpool ending on the losing side.

Pep Guardiola’s side went into the break with a disappointing 4-4 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while Liverpool defeated Brentford 3-0 at Anfield Stadium.

The last time Liverpool won at Etihad Stadium was a 3-2 win in October 2008 with a Ferran Torres brace. Perhaps that’s the reason why Liverpool Kostas Tsimikas believes the game will be a difficult one.

“In home games, they are very, very strong. But we are Liverpool. We will go there to play our football, to give absolutely everything and to win the game. Anything can happen in this game. I think it’s two of the best teams in the world right now. I think the only thing we have to see it like is as a final, to play our football. Everybody knows in this club we play [against] a very, very tough team. They are always there – they won the Premier League, Champions League last year, they made the Treble last year. I think it will be a very tough one.” Tsimikas said of City.

The Greek defender said everybody is looking forward to this fixture, from the players and the fans, and it will be a tough game for everybody.

Meanwhile, other games that will be played on Saturday will see Burnley host West Ham United, Crystal Palace will travel to Luton Town, and Newcastle will host Chelsea.

Nottingham Forest will play Brighton, Sheffield United will host Bournemouth, while Arsenal will travel to Brentford.
