Premier League side Tottenham are not ready to let midfielder Dele Alli leave the side on a proposed loan deal to French League 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.
The England midfielder seems not to be in the long term plans of the manager Jose Mourinho at the White Hart Lane as a move to PSG was mooted to be on the cards.
Letting Alli leaving may affect the depth of the squad with the recent injury to Giovani Lo Celso, and the incident is stalling the move as Chairman Daniel Levy isn’t willing to approve the player’s exit.
The 24-year-old is currently frustrated with lack of playing time and an injury to Lo Celso hasn’t improved the situation.
Alli has only played 4 League games this season, but he featured in all six UEFA Europa League group stage tie for Spurs, and his only other appearance was in last weekend’s 5-0 win against Marine FC in the FA Cup.
This translates to 239 minutes of action and just five starts in all competitions this season at the North London club.
However, the midfielder was on the bench for Wednesday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham despite Mourinho’s praise for his attitude in the FA Cup tie.
‘I am really happy with his attitude in the game, Of course, we didn’t want to risk much, the pitch is a bit dangerous, and their enthusiasm can put the creative ones in some risk. But I am happy – good professionalism, good dynamic from him and Gedson (Fernandes) to start trying to create.’ Mourinho said.
The Portuguese manager criticized Alli severally this season despite his nine goals under the manager last season.
This has led to rumours that he could link up with Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino who is now the head coach at PSG.
