Emiliano Martinez is the great hero of Argentina; the goalkeeper is the main person responsible for the team lifting the World Cup in Qatar 2022. The 30-year-old has been an integral part of Argentina’s success this year, and his performances have been a critical factor in their journey to Qatar. His performance in goal has been nothing short of spectacular, making several crucial saves that have kept his team alive during tense moments. He has become one of the most reliable players on the pitch and is always there when his team needs him most.
But Martinez also gained notoriety for the vulgar gesture he made upon receiving the Gold Glove trophy, something that has not gone unnoticed by his Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.
“We are so proud of him,” said Emery at a press conference and added
“He won the World Cup with his national team and it’s amazing, I think every fan of Aston Villa must be very proud of him.
“He’s coming back next week but I want him to rest now because after big emotion and the hard work he did, I think he has to have some days off and has to rest, and then next week he’s coming back to start with us.
“Of course, when you have big emotion, it’s sometimes difficult to control it.
“I will speak with him next week about some of the celebrations, but I respect, because he is now under his national team.
“When he’s going to be back with us and he’s our responsibility [again], then we can speak about it.”
