Vardy Scores Brace For Leicester, As Everton Beat Tottenham

    September 14, 2020

Jamie Vardy was on target twice as Leicester City made an easy work of returning West Brom in the English Premier League on Sunday.

The Foxes were impressive as they started the 2020-2021 season on a winning note as the former England skipper scored two spot-kicks in the second half to secure the win.

Leicester took the lead through newly signed defender Timothy Castagne who scored before the hour mark on his debut.

Two second-half spot-kicks in the 74th minute and ten minutes later saw the Foxes to a flying start at the Hawthorn.

In Sunday’s second game, Tottenham and Jose Mourinho were silenced as Dominic Calvert Lewin’s 55th-minute strike was enough to seal the win for Carlo Ancelotti’s men on away ground.

The season kicked off on Saturday with FA and Community shield Champions Arsenal beat newly-promoted Fulham FC 3-0.

New signing from Chelsea, Willian provided two assists as Alexander Lacazette, Gabriel, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for Gunners at the Craven Cottage.

Meanwhile, at the Anfield stadium Marcelo Bielsa and his newly promoted Leeds United pushed Champions of the Premier League Liverpool as the scored three times on their first game in the top flight since 2003/2004.

Mohammed Salah scored a Hattrick, albeit two of the goals were from the spot, while defender Virgil Van Djik scored in between, although he was at fault for two of Leeds United goals.

In other matches, Newcastle beat West Ham 2-0 at the Olympic stadium in London while Crystal Palace beat Southampton.

On Monday, Chelsea will travel to Brighton Hove and Albion while Sheffield United host Wolves. Manchester clubs Manchester City and Manchester United had their opening-round matches shifted due to their participation in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League last season.
