Premier League side Watford have hired former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri to take over at the Vicarage Road after sacking Xisco Munoz who was manager for ten months.
Ranieri led Leicester City to an unprecedented Premier League title in the 2015/2016 season but was sacked in February 2017 after a poor start to the Premier League campaign albeit with a better outing in their debut UEFA Champions League campaign.
The 69-year-old who won the 2016 Best FIFA men’s coach of the year award is the Pozzo family’s 14th managerial change since taking over Watford in 2012.
Ranieri has gone on to manage Nantes in the French Ligue 1 followed by a return to England with Fulham and further stints in Italy with Roma and Sampdoria.
Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri’s first game in charge will be a Premier league fixture on the 16th of October against Liverpool after the international break.
He will hope to change the fortunes of the team that currently sits in 14th position on the log.
Meanwhile, despite leading Watford to promotion from the Championship last season, Xisco Munoz was sacked after the Hornets lost 1-0 to Leeds United on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Hornets have started the season in a lacklustre manner but Xisco Munoz revealed that he didn’t see the sacking coming.
“It’s been a wonderful journey and it concluded in a way that I neither expected nor wished for, I’m grateful and I will only remember all the good things I have experienced.” Xisco said on social media.
Xisco who joined Watford from Georgian side Dinamo Tbilisi in December saw Watford to an opening day winning in the Premier League against Aston Villa in a 3-2 victory.
However, the club has seven points from seven Premier League games and have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Stoke City in the September.
