Wenger is ready to put the past behind

    October 2, 2022

Arsène Wenger is recognized as the best manager in the history of Arsenal and one of the most iconic in the Premier League.

Wenger was in charge of the Gunners for 22 years, but his departure from the club did not go in the best way, and since then, he has not returned to the club even on a visit.

But it seems that Wenger is ready to put the past behind him and has expressed a desire to return to what was once his home.

It’s been 4 years since Wenger was at the Emirates or London Colney, so the possibility of him returning causes a lot of expectation and emotion in the members of the club.

Current Gunner boss Mikel Arteta spoke at this weekend’s pre-match press conference about the possibility of Wenger paying a visit.

“I hope that happens soon because I think he will inspire and a lot of people will be very happy to see him back,” Arteta said and added,

“I would love to. I think he has explained it. I think he has all the windows, all the doors open in this football club when he is ready when he feels the time is right to do it. He knows that from me. He knows that from other people at the club, and I hope that happens soon because I think it will inspire and a lot of people will be very happy to see him back.”

Since his departure from the Emirates, Wenger secured a role as FIFA’s chief of global football development. On why he has not returned to the club, Wenger had stated the following:

“I haven’t been there. I think after 22 years, I had arrived at the end of the road, and people wanted a change. Then I must say, I was always loyal to the club and turned many clubs down because I felt my life was definitely linked to the club.

“The club chose a different direction that I understand completely. And sometimes you need to change completely to have a new start and not me. My presence there could have been a problem. So I thought I’d stay away completely and give the club a chance to rebuild a new connection with a new manager.

“That’s why I never talked about Arsenal. I never came back to Arsenal because I didn’t want to be a presence that is maybe not good for the club.”
