Woods Says 2022 ‘Tough But Rewarding’, Hopes For Better 2023

    December 20, 2022

Golf hall of famer, Tiger Woods has described the 2022 season as ‘tough’ but also added that it was a very rewarding year as he plans for a more engaging season in 2023. The 15-time major winner, who played only nine rounds of golf this year, has said that he plans to play all four majors in 2023.

Over the weekend, Woods played in the PNC Championship family golf tournament, where he paired with his 13-year-old son, Charlie. Both finished 8th, and this was one of the few events Woods managed to complete this year. A week ago, he and Rory McIlroy were defeated by Jordan Speith and Justin Thomas at The Match, a charity event. Before then, Woods last event was at the Open Championship in July.

Woods spent the 2022 season still recovering from the ghastly accident he was involved in last year, February. He recently revealed that he has developed plantar fasciitis, which is a condition marked by pain in the foot. But all of this has not stopped the former world number one from hoping for a better 2023 season as he hopes to make a full recovery from the injuries.

Speaking at the end of the PNC Championship, Woods reflected on how much progress he has made since the accident, especially this year alone. He said: “The first year, I had back surgery, and last year, I played with a broken leg. So this year, nothing was broken, but it was good that all the pieces are there again, all lined up.”

Going further, he added: “It was a tough year but also one of the more rewarding years I’ve had in a while. I’ve had a lot of setbacks over the last few years, so to be able to have – as I was alluding to this summer – I don’t know if I ever get back to playing St Andrews in a British Open, but to be able to experience that maybe one last time at this level was very special to me.”
