    Australia Wins Third Test Series

    January 7, 2020

Australia has won the third series to make it a 3-0 victory over New Zealand, making it a whitewash.

The Australian side led by 279 runs. This would be Australia’s fifth win for the season after beating Pakistan 2-0. Nathan Lyon made a 5-50 and also made 10 wickets in the two innings, five for each as he tried to put things in favor of his home country, but could not do much. Ross Taylor also broke a record for the NZ side by being the highest test run-scorer, after making 22 runs in the match, taking his overall total to 7174, before he was sent out by Pat Cummins.

The game started with the NZ side doing their best to win the day at least five of the match, but the host team came prepared, seeking to maintain an unblemished test series score this season. Mitchell Starc, who took three for 25, and Lyon did good for their team, especially in the opening set when they struck early. Colin De Grandhomme was also helpful, making 52 for his team, for them to finish at 136.

David Warner made his 24th century in the game in the second session of the game after finished with 89 before lunch. By making the record, with 111 runs, he has surpassed his coach, Justin Langer, a tally of Test centuries for Australia. Marnus Labuschagne also helped his country with 59 runs, before being sent out, before Australia declared their second innings at 217.

The New Zealand side has indeed suffered terribly, losing their three outings. Although batter Matt Henry was absent from the match, there is little to suggest that his presence would have affected anything. Their highest score during the series was just 256, and they ended the last game with 136. The no.2 team in the world has to make some serious adjustments and reshuffling before they face India next month.
