Cricket fans have something exciting to look forward to this winter as Cricket West Indies has announced the full schedule for their white-ball series against the England men’s team in December. The series will consist of a three-match one-day international series, followed by five T20 internationals.
The England team, who are the current ICC men’s ODI and T20I world champions, will visit four different Caribbean islands during their pre-Christmas tour, including Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, and Trinidad.
The tour will begin with two ODIs to be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on December 3 and 6. The third and final ODI will be played at Kensington Oval in Barbados on December 9, followed by the opening T20 international at the same stadium on December 12.
Grenada will welcome both teams for two T20Is on December 14 and 16. The tour will then conclude in the week before Christmas with the fourth and fifth T20Is at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. This will be the first time that England will be playing at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy since 2009, with games scheduled for December 19 and 21.
Cricket West Indies’ chief executive, Johnny Grave, expressed his excitement over the announcement, saying, “We are delighted to be able to confirm the England match schedule and to welcome once again their many travelling fans to the region for a pre-Christmas white-ball tour.” He added that the tour will be a “major economic boost” to the host countries, as well as providing fans with the opportunity to see some of their favorite players in action against one of the biggest rivals.
The series will be a chance for the England team to prepare for the next T20 World Cup, which will take place in Australia in 2024.
